Northern Virginia Landscapers
DLI's Trademark Landscaping Professionals
Ongoing landscaping industry education is a fundamental component of our business
model. At (DLI) Deehan Landscaping, Inc., we strive to continually educate ourselves about
new research and development in landscaping techniques, business practice, and landscape design. During the busy season,
we set time aside to attend seminars to re-fresh our thinking, take
a break away from the daily operations, and re-focus our attention
on how to ensure the best possible experience for our clients.
Whether you’re an existing client,
new to Deehan Landscaping, or considering employment with us, you
will be glad to know our employees work well together as a group
due to a strong sense of teamwork.

At Deehan Landscaping, we believe in taking care of our customers by taking
care of our team members. We feel this pro-team attitude has rewarded us
with a very low turn-over rate since our start-up in 1985. What does that
mean for you? Our employees are highly motivated, highly skilled and highly
experienced. You're in good hands with Deehan Landscaping!

Jaime Deehan
Owner and (CLP) Certified Landscaping Professional
Favorite Tree: Tri-color Beech
Favorite Flower: Tie: The Lotus & Kalmia latifolia
Favorite Color: Purple
Favorite Animal: Wolf
Favorite Food: Lobster |
As the founder of DLI, Jaime has sought to bring complete
satisfaction to both his clients and team members. His attention to detail
and keen eye for design and order has rewarded him with a reputation for
excellence in the Northern Virginia market. This devotion and vision has
permeated into the company’s work ethic and is evident by the loyalty
and superb job being performed in the field.
Jaime’s awe of nature has paired well with his
career choice of landscaping. As a break from the intense world of small
business entrepreneur, Jaime has become an avid white water canoeist.
A hobby he started in the late nineties, Jaime confidently maneuvers class
III and IV rapids on the rivers of the mid-Atlantic. His taste for extreme
outdoor experiences also includes wilderness dog sledding in Minnesota
and winter trekking and camping in remote Maine. He welcomes the winter
chill, that’s evident in his year round attire of shorts! Jaime
has also had canine companions his entire adult life providing loyal companionship
during his escapes to the woods.
Early on in his life, Jaime was bitten by the travel
bug. His father’s career in the travel industry allowed the family
to vacation all over the world. Hawaii is his favorite place on earth,
having visited there six times! Scuba diving & snorkeling also entice
Jaime to explore the breathtaking world below sea level. He’s spent
many hours mesmerized by the beauty and tranquility of the underwater
world. Sir James is also a naturalist and enjoys nude sunbathing when
the time is right.
Home is Jaime’s haven. He strives to harmonize
and create a sense of peace and excitement in both his garden and living
surroundings. The goal for his garden is seclusion and privacy from the
outside world where he can lovingly tend to his flowers. Gardening has
become a therapeutic hobby where the hectic goings on of the day melts
away into a meditative energy that fills his thoughts.
In addition to (CLP) Certified Landscape Professional, Jaime's expertise also includes Certified Horticulturalist, Certified Pesticide Applicator as well as and (CLT) Certified Landscape Technician.

Cate Feck
Landscape Designer/Director of Enhancements
Favorite Tree: River Birch
Favorite Flower: Pink Peony
Favorite Color: Purple
Favorite Animal: Cat
Favorite Food: French Cuisine |
Cate joined the DL team in September 0f 2004 and has
adjusted quite nicely to the hectic activities of a small business. As
the Director of Enhancements, Cate’s creative juices and talents
are put to good use designing and renovating landscapes. As a child, Cate
often critiqued her neighbor’s gardens, but never thought she’d
find her career path leading to the green industry. After much soul searching
and many majors in college, she was ultimately pulled in the direction
of Horticulture. Above all else in her eight years of industry experience,
Cate’s greatest delights have always been seeing the excitement
and satisfaction on the faces of her clients once their projects take
shape.
Being a lover of nature, Cate’s design interests
follow the pursuit of the natural order in forests. She often draws from
examples in nature to find inspiration and bring realism to her designs.
This is evident in the varying textures of foliage she uses to create
a dynamic visual scene.
Cate is a hiker and skier and also feels quite at home
in the water. For Cate, one of the most beautiful and peaceful experiences
on earth is floating among the gentle waves of the turquoise waters of
the Caribbean. Perhaps Cate owes her curiosity and interest in traveling
the world to her parents. She grew up as a Navy brat with her family living
all over the US and as far away as northern Africa. It’s not surprising
that the Moroccan influence has found its way into her interior design.
Her boudoir features the bold and exciting colors, textures and furnishings
of Morocco that she remembers from early childhood. Cate feels fortunate
to have such loving parents who taught her a deep sense of cultural awareness.
From the moment you meet Cate you will immediately feel comfortable knowing
that she is open to and excited about exploring new ideas! Cate genuinely
likes people, and her focus is clearly centered on making things better
in everyway.
When away from work, Cate spends a lot of time with friends
and family. She enjoys creating new and unique taste sensations for her
eager dining companions. She finds inspiration in the bold flavors of
the spice rack, adding a little bit of this and that, managing to make
most everything without a recipe. The key to her cooking is in the fresh
herbs she uses, and they are a must have in her garden. Her favorite herb
by far is basil. It reminds her of the pungent fragrance that weighs heavy
in the air on a hot and lazy summer evening. Cate likes to incorporate
herbs in her perennial gardens and container plantings. Although her friends
often encourage her go into the catering business, luckily for us her
interests and loyalty remain with horticulture!
Cate's areas of expertise include landscape design and she holds a BS in horticulture from Virginia Tech. Cate is an ISA Certified Arborist, and a (CLT) Certified Landscape Technician.

Sergio Bonilla:
Favorite Tree: Crapemyrtle
Favorite Flower: Purple Coneflower
Favorite Color: Green
Favorite Animal: Horse
Favorite Food: Chicken |
Sergio has the longest tenure in DLI among the Team Leaders.
Early on in his career, Sergio demonstrated his leadership skills and
desire to manage his own crew. Over the years, Sergio has taken on many
roles within the company and has developed into a well rounded landscape
professional. Currently, his latest role as Outdoor Illumination Specialist
has become his very favorite. He finds the technical nature of lighting
installation challenging and loves the effects.
Sergio grew up in Usulutan, El Salvador, a small farming
community in the southern part of the country. Growing up on his grandfather’s
ranch, Sergio looked up to him as his hero and wanted to follow in his
footsteps. When he was five years old, an accident during cattle branding
operations left Sergio with a brand on his arm. He never felt bad about
this accident, but rather thought of himself as his grandfather’s
property and life. He still remembers the incident to this day with pride.
Sergio and his wife Sandra both share the same enduring
work ethic and heavy sense of responsibility for their families back home.
It’s not unusual for them to work six days a week leaving very few
precious hours to themselves. During his spare time, he enjoys family
outings to the Botanic Gardens, and get-togethers with friends and family.
He has four sons, William, Luis, Alexander and Juan Antonio (named after
his grandfather).

Mario Isleno:
Favorite Tree: Arborvitae
Favorite Flower: Rose
Favorite Color: White
Favorite Animal: Horse
Favorite Food: Seafood |
Mario has been with DLI for over eight years. His customers
have only the best to comment about his performance. Voted among his co-team
members as the friendliest, Mario is always sure to have a smile on his
face! Devoting years to grounds maintenance operations, no team member
comes close to his meticulous performance and efficiency.
Mario too grew up in the same village as Sergio, Usulutan,
El Salvador. With aspirations of being the best and most powerful, Mario
dreamed of becoming the President! While in Usulutan, Mario worked with
politicians and the court system. Maybe that’s why he’s voted
the friendliest! Mario’s wife, Leanyse, and three children live
in his hometown in El Salvador. He has two sons, Warner & Alisners
and one daughter, Jarithya.
When he gets the chance, Mario often spends his free
time engaged in impromptu soccer scrimmages honing his skills on the field.
Mario fanaticizes of joining the Professional Pool Circuit, but in the
mean time, he’s content to shoot a good game of pool, improving
his techniques one game at a time. And like many of us, he’s often
doing those never ending home repairs.

Juan Alvarado:
Favorite Tree: Japanese Maple
Favorite Flower: Tulip
Favorite Color: Black & Blue
Favorite Animal: Dog
Favorite Food: Papusas |
Juan is the newest member of our management team. He
joined us in early 2005 and heads up our landscape enhancements team.
Juan is our veteran professional landscaper with over fourteen years of
experience in grounds maintenance and installation. If you take the time
to talk to Juan, you may find yourself in stitches as he is extremely
funny and personable.
Juan also comes to the US from El Salvador. The name
of his hometown is Sonsonate (sounds like Cincinnati), located in southern
El Salvador near the coast. Juan’s earliest memories are of the
war between El Salvador and Honduras. Since his country participated in
one of the bloodiest civil wars in world history, he always imagined he’d
be in the militia, but thankfully was never drawn into the mayhem. In
fact, Juan was fortunate to receive political asylum and has been working
to build a better life ever since. Juan appreciates peace in this world
and one of his favorite past times is enjoying the Olympic Games. For
Juan, one of the most beautiful places on earth is the Panama Canal. He
vacationed there and has fond memories of its beauty.
Juan has two children both living in the US. One son
named Cesar Augusto and one daughter, Cameron Aida. When he’s not
working, he enjoys watching sports and we think he’s secretly addicted
to the Weather Channel!
